A Letter To My Concienscence

Role: Lead Editor & Post-Production Supervisor

Scope

Independent narrative short film — an introspective, non-linear story requiring a highly collaborative post-production process. Responsible for the complete editorial pipeline: from raw footage organization through final delivery, coordinating with the director, cinematographer, sound designer, and VFX team.

Responsibilities

  • Ingested and organized raw footage — built the editorial structure before a single cut was made

  • Assembled rough cut in Adobe Premiere Pro, selecting takes aligned with the film's emotional arc

  • Ran regular feedback sessions with the director and cross-functional team to lock pacing, transitions, and tone

  • Coordinated with the VFX team on abstract visual elements — managed delivery timelines for each asset

  • Supervised sound design integration to maintain consistency across the narrative

  • Managed the revision cycle through to picture lock without deadline slippage

Challenges

Non-linear storytelling with abstract visual elements creates real coordination pressure in post. Every department — VFX, sound, color — is working on different pieces simultaneously, and the editor has to hold the vision together while assets come in at different times. The challenge was keeping the creative intent intact across a multi-person, multi-phase process where nothing was locked until it all was.

Outcome

Delivered on schedule. The film screened at multiple film festivals and received recognition for its editorial approach — specifically the pacing and transitions that editors don't usually get called out for. The collaborative process produced a final cut that exceeded the director's original vision. Zero missed deadlines across post-production.
